Abstract: 【Abstract】〓Objective〓To investigate the clinical effect of the laparoscopic surgery for low rectal cancer. Methods〓The clinical data of 186 cases with low rectal cancer who underwent radical rectectomy with sphincter preservation were analyzed retrospectively. Of 186 cases, 115 cases were treated with laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic group), and 71 cases with traditional open surgery (open group). Results〓Operative time in open group was longer than that of the laparoscopic group. The blood loss, postoperative hospitalization stay, postoperative anal automatic exhaust time, liquid diet time and solid diet time were all shorter in the laparoscopic group than that in open group. There was no statistical difference in the occurred rate of postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction within 30 days (diarrhea, constipation, intestinal obstruction, etc.). Conclusion〓Contrast with the traditional open surgery, the laparoscopic group takes more advantages in reducing the amount of bleeding, quickening postoperative recovery of gastrointestinal function, simultaneously. It is easier to meet the requirements of fast track surgery and to implement it.
