Abstract: Objective To investagate the effect of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) on treatment for long period of unhealed wounds. Methods From June 2008 to February 2011, 29 patients suffering from chronic unhealed wounds were received VSD treatment. The data of pain relief rate and wound healing rate were analyzed retrospectively. Results VSD showed obvious effect of pain relief for chronic wounds. 23 patients made obvious improvement and recovered after dressing change or skin grafting. 4 patients got wound narrow and recovered after flap transplantation. 2 cases showed no effect. The effective rate was 79.3%. Conclusion VSD speeds up the chronic wounds healing and relieves pain effectively. It is economic and practical.
