Abstract: Objective To investigate the anesthesia management of Sturge-Werber syndrome. Methods The anesthesia management of a child with Sturge-Werber syndrome (type Ⅲ) was retrospectively analyzed, and the related literatures were reviewed. Result After sufficient preoperative evaluation, knowing the patient′s history of antiepilepsy and excluding the risks such as difficult airway and high intraocular pressure, the operation was successfully completed under combined intravenous and inhalation anesthesia, and the patient recovered well after operation. Conclusion Difficult airway, oral and upper respiratory angiomata, central nervous system lesions and glaucoma are the main problems in SWS anesthesia management. Anesthesiologists should fully understand these problems and make appropriate preoperative evaluation of SWS patients so as to formulate appropriate anesthesia management plan.
